Trevor's Pin Removal

Trev had an appointment on December 23rd to have the pins removed from his foot. He was with Blake for Christmas so Michelle was going to fly in Monday night to go to the Doctor with him. Her plane had "mechanical" problems and the only thing to make it to Utah was her luggage. Needless to say she didn't make it and I was really disappointed she wasn't here for Christmas. I went to the doctor with Trevor and then Blake let him come to lunch with Heidi Josh and I. We went to the Olive Garden in Layton. The pictures of the pins are kind of gross.

Trev's Surgery

On the Thursday before Thanksgiving Trevor had surgery on his foot. He was a little worried about this one, his 5th surgery. I don't think he remembered the others very well.

Michelle and Trevor at Primary Children's Medical Center

After he got out of the hospital we had to go to the Dinosaur Park. It has been one of his favorite places to go since he was very little.

Linnea Visits

On November 9, 2008 my cousin Linnea Clark, her daughter Jessica and Jessica's beautiful new baby daughter Leah stopped by for a visit. They were here visiting from Littleton, Colorado.

I love this picture of Josh playing in the leaves in the front yard. He loved the leaves.

The Friday before Halloween Ryan, Heidi, Chris and I took Josh to the Pumpkin Walk in Syracuse. Josh really didn't have a clue what was going on.

This picture is from Halloween.
He wasn't too interested in the whole Trick or Treat thing.

October 2008-I'm a little behind!

In October Jamie and my friend, Shelley Barlow, and I hiked the Indian Trail. Jamie and I have hiked part of it a couple of times but never took time to leave a car at the top of 21st street and driving up the canyon. We finely did. Shelley and I agree that Jamie probably hiked twice as far as we did. She would go on ahead and then come back. Glad I had Shelley to hike with. Shelley and I spent a lot of time stopping and looking around. It was a fun day. Oh, we did have Jamie's dog Lila with us too.

San Francisco September 19-28

On Friday night September 19th I flew To San Francisco to watch Trev while Michelle went to Chicago for work. She didn't leave until Sunday night so we had the week end to do things. She flew back in Wednesday night so we had the next week end also. I had a great time and not enough time to do everything.

On Saturday we drove down the coast to Half Moon Bay and then to Santa Cruz.

This is Trev outside the restaurant where we had lunch. There were a lot of surfers in the water there.

On the way down we stopped at the Pigeon Point Lighthouse

This is the beach at the lighthouse

We also stopped to watch the kite surfers. It is unbelievable what the can do. Michelle is ready to take lessions.

On Sunday morning we went to the Dale Chihuly exhibit at the de Young museum at Golden Gate Park. During the 2002 Olympics the girls and I went to the Chihuly exhibit they had in Salt Lake City. Love his stuff!

We also visited the gardens at Golden Gate Park

I did a walking tour of China Town. I loved the history I learned on the tour.

After Trevor got out of school on Monday we went to Pier 29 so Trev could play games. It is a favorite thing for him to do. He also suckered me into seeing the Sponge Bob 3-D movie. Last time we did the 3-D at Pier 29 I told him I wouldn't do it again because it is a rip off. This time I mean it. I will not do the 3-D movie. It is a rip off!

I walked across the Golden Gate Bridge on day while Trev was in school. It's a great walk.

After walking the Bridge I had to make a stop at Kamei, one of my favorite stores. I found this store in Sunset magazine. I made Andre go with me the first time I went. He loved it and took Michelle back. She loved it. I took Stef there in March and she loved it. It is full of Chinese dishes. It has some of the same things they have in China Town but it is all in one store.

This is Trev's school on Telegraph Hill. It is built on several levels because the hill is so steep. Trev gets to keep the key to elevator when he is at school.

Trev and I also went back to Pier 29 to go to the aquarium.

On Friday night Michelle, Trev and I did a haunted San Francisco tour. These pictures are at the Queen Anne Hotel. The tour was just okay. No where as good as the Haunted Colonial Williamsburg

This room is supposed to be haunted

Pretty scary looking

On Saturday morning we took the ferry to Angle Island. It was one of those places I've wanted to go. I'm glad we made it this time. Two weeks later a lot of the island burned and will be closed for awhile.

This is a view of the bay from the island.
We saw a lot of deer on Angel Island.
This is Trev on the ferry on the way back to San Francisco.
On Saturday night we went to SF Giants game. They played the LA Dodgers and lost but the game was good and it was fun.

On Sunday we saw the Maltese Falcon in Sausalito. This picture doesn't due her justice. She definitely drew a crowd.
After lunch in Sausalito we checked out the Marin Headlands. Another first for me. Then after a drive pasted the Cow Palace (thanks Michelle and I know you're glad you went) it was time to fly home.

Last but not least this Andre. He loves my cooking! So Andre, here you are on my blog.

Stef Came to Visit and Josh's Birthday Party September 11-16

Stef was able to come home for a few days. It was great to have her home.

On Saturday we went to Oktoberfest at Snowbird
Stef, me (Jan), Jamie

Josh's second birthday was September 14th. Ryan and Heidi had a great party for him. He was so excited to open the presents. We were all in the kitchen ready to eat when we heard him opening his presents in the living room. Needless to say we put off dinner and opened presents.

This is Erik's new truck. A couple of weeks before this picture was taken Erik's car was stolen on a Sunday morning. The insurance company worked fast and by the next Saturday he found this truck and bought it. As luck would have it (or unluck) the next day his car was found. Now he has a truck and a car he is trying to sell. That is after it was repaired!
On Monday, September 15 my mom, sister Linda, Stef, Jamie, Heidi, Josh and I went to Ruth's Diner and Thanksgiving Point

Swiss Days August 29, 2008

Heidi, my sister Linda and Josh went to Swis Days on Friday. It was Heidi's first time going. She was a little surprised, no a lot surprised, we planned to spend the wholoe day there. Ryan ended up meeting us in Park City to pick up Heidi and Josh. Linda and I were another 3 hours in Park City and what ever else we did. Ryan told Heidi she needed to ask more questions when she goes with me.

The only pictures I took were of Josh playing on the slide and swings.

Thomas Gilbert Bingham and Irene Grace Hauser Bingham Family Reunion Sunday August 17, 2008

My grandparents, Thomas Gilbert Bingham and Irene Grace Hauser Bingham were married on 17 Aug 1917 in Ogden, Utah. We having been having our Bingham family reunion around that date for the last several years. This year we actually had the reunion on August 17th. We met in a park in Roy. As I looked at my pictures to put on the blog I realized how few pictures I had taken

My grandparents had had five children, four girls and one boy. My uncle Blaine died in 1958. One month away from turning 33. He was never married. Glenda Louder was the oldest of the sisters. She died in 2006.

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Tuesday was Michelle and Trevor's last day here. He had a doctor's appointment that morning and as expected he needs surgery on his right foot. He will be having it done at Primary Children's the Thursday before Thanksgiving. That means we get to spend a little more time with them at Thanksgiving.

After the Dr's appointment we had lunch at Ruth's Diner. I love their biscuits. We then met Michelle's friend Christie and Christie's little girl Topaz in Salt Lake City to drive to Thanksgiving Point. Trev loves the Dinosaur Museum there.

Trev at the museum

Christie, Topaz and Trev "digging" for Dinosaur bones

It is amazing what happens when you give a boy a little sand, a little water and a few plastic trees and dinosaurs.

I think the dinosaur just about got the best of Trev. He was holding on for dear life.

We also went to the farm yard at Thanksgiving Point. The donkey was cute but the sign to the right says to watch out, the donkey bites

Then is was off to the Gateway for Michelle, Trev and I to kill time until they flew out. That was where Trevor picked out the $25.00 Batman shirt that Michelle talks about in her blog. The one he wouldn't wear the first day of school.

Michelle and Trev got home before I did. I-15 was all but closed down due to a very large tank falling off the 2 simi's that were hauling it. I went to Trolley Square and then to Erik's place and hung out with his friend while I waited for him to get home. i finally left to go home and the 25 minute drive took me an hour and that was at 8:30!

Sunday July 27, 2008

Michelle flew in today so she could go to Trev's doctors appointment on Tuesday. His right foot is looking bad and it was time for his checkup with Dr. Smith so she wanted to be there. He will be having surgery again on that foot the Thursday before Thanksgiving.

We had a big family dinner on Sunday afternoon. All the kids were there except for Stefanie. We missed you Stef!
I love it when we can all be together. I have the greatest family in the whole world.

Josh looks like a tough guy

Friday July 25, 2008

For those of you familiar with Utah you will notice pictures of the 24th of July are missing. That would be because Trevor wanted to go to the Ogden parade with my parents but when morning came it was too early for him to get up and go. I went to the parade with my Mom and Dad but didn't take any pictures. We did have a good time.

On Friday Heidi, Josh, Trev and I took the Front Runner to Salt Lake City. Because Trevor lives in San Francisco he rides the train often and it is not his favorite thing to do. He was a good sport about riding the Front Runner.

We rode to Salt Lake City and then walked up the Gateway where we met Heidi's Mom Susan and Erik. We ate at California Pizza and then went up to see Erik's place. He is living in a condo on Capital Hill. Ryan picked us up there after he got off work so we didn't have to take the Front Runner home.

Dinosaur Park Wednesday July 22, 2008

Wednesday was our day for the Dinosaur Park. Trevor has always loved this place. He even had his birthday party here once. It was a first for Josh. Again the cousins were there. Ryan and Heidi came along too.

After the park we went back to Susan's, minus Ryan, Heidi and Josh, to watch a movie. We older once watched August Rush and the young once started with Star Wars but ended up out side playing.

Monday July 21, 2008. Trevor is Here! We love Lagoon.

On the night of July 20,2008 Trev came to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa. We sure miss him when he's not here.

Monday was Lagoon day with cousins KC and Dani. Susan, Stacy, Linda and Jan went along. I'm sure glad I have the kids to ride the rides with because Susan, Stacy and Linda are not riders! We picked the best day of the summer to go to Lagoon. It rained yearly in the morning and then was overcast and cool for a big part of the day.

Before we went to Lagoon we tended Josh while Heidi worked. Trev loves to tend Josh and Josh loves Trevor. When I take Josh for a walk around the cul-de-sac he is all over the place. He's trying to get in the neighbour's yards or running in the street. When Trevor takes him he just follows Trev around.

I love this picture of Josh with Chris. Josh is so much help in the yard. He loves to climb all over the waterfall and throw rocks.

King of the hill!

This is what Trev did while Josh and Grandpa were working in the yard.

Don't KC and Trevor look a little big to ride on this ride. Dani may be the youngest but she was too tall for this ride.

Trevor, KC and Dani in front of the Erastus Bingham cabin. Every time we go to Lagoon the kids know they have to have their picture taken here. I think they are pretty proud they are related.

You've got to love the Pioneer Village jail.

I'm so glad they are old enough to get wet on their own. Last year Linda, Stacy, Susan and I went with them and I don't think I ever dried out.

Savannah, Ga May 30-June 1, 2008

Friday morning Stefanie and I left to drive to Savannah, Ga. Neither of us had read "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" so I bought the book on CD before we left. We finished listening as we drove into Savannah.

This is the Mercer Williams House where the incidents in the book took place.

Savannah is a beautiful city that was saved from destruction by General Sherman. He presented Savannah to President Lincoln as a Christmas present.

This is Forsyth Park. It was set aside as a park in 1840. The fountain was added in 1854. We also did a Haunted Savannah Tour and our guide for this told us many people are buried under the fountain.

Jan and Stefanie in Forseyth Park.

Since we were in Savannah we had to eat at Paula Deen's restaurant "Lady and Son's". We had to wait in line in the morning to get reservations for later that day. We didn't have any trouble getting the time we wanted but the tour guide (yes, we did another bus tour here) said often they have a sign saying they were full for the day. The food was good. Stef really like the hoe cakes. She's becoming a real Southerner. I'm not a big pancake fan and that is what I thought these were like.

The park bench that Tom Hanks sits on for much of the movie Forrest Gump was located in Savannah at Chippewa Square. Stef is standing just in back of where the bench was.

This is the Cotton Exchange building.

I loved the oak trees with the hanging Spanish moss. We did lean that the area was covered in pine trees when they first settled Savannah but they were soon chopped down to use as building material. The oak tress were planted later. The Spanish moss is part of the pineapple family and does not damage the trees.

It was 99 degrees and humid when we left Savannah. Just a little taste of what it is like in summer in the South.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge May 28, 2008

After Stef got off work on Wednesday Stef and I along with Paul drove over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It is part bridge and part tunnel. Stefanie had no patients for the drivers that slowed down in the tunnels. This picture is the pier on the bridge. There is a restaurant there also that we had thought about having dinner at. That was before we stopped there. Stef looked the restaurant before we left. The pictures and description looked okay on line. The real thing did not match.

Stef will probably laugh when she sees this picture. I love light houses and this one was way off in the distance on the north side of the bridge. I just had to add it.
We had dinner in Virginia Beach at Bubba's Seafood Restaurant on our way back to Newport News. It was a good place on an inlet of Chesapeake Bay.

Monticello May 29, 2008

Stef had to work on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so I was on my own to explore more of Jamestown and Williamsburg. On Thursday I drove to Charlottesville, Va to see Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home. What a beautiful setting and place.

Monticello

The is the path from Monticello back to the parking lot. It was very beautiful.

Plantation Homes May 26, 2008

This is me (Jan), Stefanie, Stef's friend Paul, Trevor and Michelle at the Shirley Plantation. The Shirley Plantation has been in the same family for 11 generations. The present house was started in 1723 and finished in 1738. This is so foreign to me. Not to many structures were built here until after 1847! The home was beautiful but give me electricity, heating and especially air conditioning in that humid part of the county.

We also toured to Berkley Plantation. These plantations played a part in both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

After Visiting the plantations and having pizza in Richmond, Va we dropped Michelle and Trev off at the airport. We were sad to see them go.

Virginia Beach May 25, 2008

I think Trev liked the sidewalk shower.

Trev's idea of soaking up the sun.

Trev and Michelle were the only ones to get really wet. Stef and I just wanted the sun.

Trev at Virginia Beach.

Two years ago we had Trev's birthday party at Crissy Field in San Francisco. Chris, Stef, Jamie and I along with Trevor had been to the Red Woods. This year we were going to celebrate on the East coast. We were going to have a cake with candles and ice cream. Trev just wanted to open his presents so he said he just wanted gelato.

How's that for a candle? He was happy with it.

You can almost see all of us.

We took a bus tour of the city. It was a good way to see a lot and then go back and walk it. We did the Mall, Museum of Natural History, the Constitution, Declaration of Independence Bill of Rights, White House, Zoo and Arlington Cemetery.

I had to add the picture of the Red Cross building in Washington DC since I work for the Red Cross.

Jan, Trevor, Michelle and Stefanie. Before we headed back to Newport News we did a little shopping and had dinner in Georgetown.

Haunted Williamsburg

We did a haunted Williamsburg tour. It was great. We didn't know what to expect. Stef and I did a haunted Charleston tour that was a let down so we were happy this one was so good. The house above is the Peyton Randolph House. It is supposed to be the most haunted house in America. It looks more the part in the dark.

Labor Day 2007 Chris, Stef and I met my parents in Washington D.C. My dad is a WWII vet and he and my mother were there for an Army reunion.
